Come aboard the Croix du Sud V for a day of dolphin watching and a stopover in Porquerolles!
Departing from the port of Sanary-sur-Mer, we offer a dolphin watching cruise (4 hours) off the coast of the Hyères Islands, as well as a stopover of approximately 2.5 hours on the island of Porquerolles (except on August 3 and 17: 4-hour dolphin excursion + 4-hour stopover).
Right from the start, we may be lucky enough to encounter bottlenose dolphins frequenting the coastal areas. As we head out to sea and approach the underwater canyons, we may encounter three other species of dolphins:
the striped dolphin (the most abundant species in the Mediterranean), Risso's dolphin, and the long-finned pilot whale.
Depending on the encounters we have and the time remaining, we will try to reach areas where whales are regularly sighted.
Accompanied by naturalists and photographers from “Découverte du Vivant,” we will offer a lecture on board, as well as microphone presentations, covering biological concepts related to all the species encountered during the trip. The Croix du Sud V holds the “High Quality Whale Watching” label, a guarantee of sustainable and respectful whale watching.
During each cruise, a photo report is provided free of charge by the naturalists of Découverte du Vivant.
You will also disembark for a free stopover on the island of Porquerolles. This is an opportunity to discover its picturesque village, wild landscapes, and idyllic coves.
Schedule for the day:
- Departure from the port of Sanary-sur-Mer for a 1.5-hour/45-minute crossing to the island of Porquerolles. Some passengers make a day trip without the “dolphins” excursion. If you have booked “dolphins & Porquerolles,” you will not disembark at this point.
- Departure from Porquerolles Island for the 4-hour “dolphins” excursion.
- Stopover on Porquerolles Island, free time to visit, for approximately 3 hours (varies depending on the season).
- Departure from the port of Porquerolles for the return crossing to Sanary, approximately 1 hour 45 minutes/45 minutes
For excursions from August 3 to 17, 2026, we will depart directly from Sanary for the 4-hour dolphin excursion, followed by a 4-hour stopover on the island of Porquerolles, and finally a 1 hour 45 minute return crossing.
