Le Gros Cerveau Massif classified as a natural area of ecological, faunistic and florastic interest, reaches an altitude of 446 metres. He offers breathtaking views on the Mediterranean, from the Giens peninsula to the islands off Marseille, including the splendid Sanary bay.

The massif, accessible by car (D2020 road) depending on the season (in summer, the road is not allowed to the cars because of the fire risk), is used by many walkers, hikers (marked paths + GR51), joggers or climbers (10 sports climbing areas). On the ridge, two defensive fortifications built between 1890 and 1900 are still present : the Ouvrage de la Pointe and the Fort du Gros Cerveau.

At the bend in the paths, it’s not uncommon to come across the Rove goats, recognisable by their triangular and twisted horns. These goats accompanied the transhumance of the sheep and provided milk for the shepherds and the lambs that their mothers could not offer. They are still very useful today, especially for clearing and maintaining inacessible areas, that need to be cleared to fight fires.
